Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop one or more data engineering teams, foster collaboration and coach engineers to improve delivery quality.
- Define technical direction for data platforms, pipelines and analytics infrastructure; set standards and best practices.
- Contribute hands-on to solution design and implementation, perform code reviews and resolve complex technical issues.
- Drive adoption of modern tooling and patterns (Spark, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, ADF, FastAPI, CI/CD, observability).
- Engage stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritise work and ensure data solutions deliver measurable business value.
- Oversee deployment, validation, monitoring and performance tuning to maintain accuracy, reliability and scalability.

Requirements:
- 4+ years of professional data engineering experience with proven leadership or management of cross-functional delivery.
- Strong object-oriented Python skills and practical experience with large-scale processing (Apache Spark).
- Experience building/exposing data services via APIs (e.g., FastAPI) and working with cloud data platforms (Azure, Databricks, Fabric, ADF).
- Familiarity with ML frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow) where relevant, and effective use of developer tooling (Git, CI/CD, code-assist tools).
- Solid understanding of data modelling, data architecture and BI optimisation for analytics/AI workloads.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and ability to operate in ambiguous, client-facing environments.
