Responsibilities:
- Build, lead and coach a first-line engineering team (Governance & Observability or License & Billing) to deliver high-impact outcomes.
- Hire, onboard and develop engineers; run regular 1:1s, performance conversations and career planning.
- Translate product strategy into clear team priorities, roadmap items and measurable success metrics.
- Ensure technical quality through architectural guidance, code review culture and sound engineering practices.
- Collaborate closely with product, design and cross-functional stakeholders to ship reliable enterprise features.
- Drive operational readiness: monitoring, incident response, runbooks and post-incident improvement cycles.
- Foster a high-trust environment where engineers can learn, experiment and take ownership.

Requirements:
- 2+ years of first-line engineering management experience in a fast-growing SaaS or product company.
- Strong software engineering background (familiarity with TypeScript/Node.js a plus) and hands-on technical judgement.
- Domain expertise or strong interest in either governance & observability (audit, monitoring, compliance) or licensing & billing systems.
- Proven ability to hire, mentor and grow engineers and to shape effective teams and processes.
- Experience working with product teams to define outcomes, prioritise work and measure impact.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working remotely across time zones.
