Engineering Manager - Underwriting & Pricing at Homeprotect

Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow a long-lived product engineering team responsible for pricing, rating engines, underwriting rules and quote calculation services.
- Define and deliver the technical roadmap that balances short-term business changes with long-term platform sustainability.
- Partner closely with Product, Actuarial and Commercial stakeholders to translate business needs into safe, testable releases.
- Ensure platform reliability, performance and observability; own incident response, capacity planning and CI/CD quality.
- Drive engineering practices: automated testing, code reviews, technical debt management, and platform automation.
- Hire, mentor and performance-manage engineers to build a high-performing, product-focused team.

Requirements:
- Proven experience managing engineering teams building backend, distributed or cloud-native systems.
- Strong technical background in backend architecture, APIs, performance tuning, observability and CI/CD.
- Experience working with pricing/underwriting platforms or domain knowledge in insurance/regulated products preferred.
- Demonstrable stakeholder management and product-oriented delivery: translating actuarial/commercial needs into reliable systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, container orchestration (K8s), IaC and automated testing practices.
- Excellent communication, mentoring ability and a track record of balancing delivery speed with platform health.
