## About the role

Responsibilities:
- Own and operate core dbt services: CI/CD pipelines, performance optimization, runtime configuration, and quality enforcement.
- Serve as the engineering partner to analytics teams: review patterns, improve project structure, and elevate SQL and model quality.
- Develop data quality and governance capabilities: anomaly detection, freshness checks, drift detection, and contract enforcement.
- Promote data product thinking and governance across the data mesh; define standards for ownership and contracts.
- Contribute to Python tooling and observability utilities: write maintainable, tested code used by practitioners.
- Collaborate with data platform engineers to align tooling and infrastructure decisions with analytics needs.

Requirements:
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills; able to scope issues and prioritize durable fixes.
- Strong Python (typed, tested) and advanced SQL skills, including query tuning and plan reasoning.
- Practical experience running dbt at scale: macros, hooks, incremental models, and CI/CD integrations.
- Demonstrable impact improving reliability, quality, or productivity in a data organisation.
- Community-focused: able to mentor, influence without formal authority, and promote best practices.
- Comfortable collaborating across platform, analytics, and product teams to deliver scalable solutions.

## Responsibilities

You will own and evolve core dbt services, maintaining CI/CD infrastructure and driving performance improvements. Additionally, you will act as an engineering interface for the analytics community to improve data quality, governance, and shared tooling.
