## About the role

Responsibilities:
- Architect, build and maintain scalable backend services (Java, Spring Boot) in an event-driven microservices environment.
- Own API product standards (REST, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth2) and build developer tools, SDKs and reference implementations to simplify partner integrations.
- Provide technical leadership: run design reviews, mentor engineers, and promote DDD and API best practices.
- Collaborate with Product, Solutions and partner teams to define features, ensure security and optimise developer experience.
- Drive cross-organisational alignment on API patterns, reliability and performance for public-facing integrations.

Requirements:
- Proven experience designing, shipping and operating production-grade public APIs (OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth2 preferred).
- Deep experience with Java and Spring Boot for backend services and familiarity with event-driven messaging (Kafka or similar).
- Strong relational database design and optimisation skills (PostgreSQL or equivalent).
- Knowledge of distributed systems, DDD and building for high availability, low latency and security.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical decisions, mentor teams and work across global hubs; occasional travel to partner offices may be required.
