Responsibilities:
- Architect, build and maintain scalable, secure backend systems to support a global mobile product.
- Design and implement RESTful and WebSocket APIs, real-time communication and geolocation services.
- Build and optimise data storage, database schemas and queries (PostgreSQL/PostGIS or similar).
- Ensure system reliability, security and compliance (OWASP best practices, GDPR, HIPAA where applicable).
- Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, testing and deployment workflows; monitor performance and uptime.
- Collaborate closely with mobile/front-end engineers and participate in key architectural decisions.

Requirements:
- 5+ years of backend development experience with strong Java expertise and system design skills.
- Proven experience implementing REST and WebSocket APIs and working with relational databases (PostgreSQL).
- Familiarity with geolocation tools (PostGIS) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and Docker.
- Solid understanding of authentication, authorization and application security best practices.
- Comfortable in an early-stage/startup environment and able to make pragmatic architectural choices.
- Upper-intermediate English; Russian is an advantage. Oracle Java certifications and open-source contributions are a plus.
