## About the role

Responsibilities:
- Own the technical roadmap for Global KYC & Onboarding verification systems, prioritising reliability, scalability and security.
- Design and implement backend microservices and APIs that support configuration-driven KYC and onboarding flows.
- Build integrations with risk and compliance systems, message queues (e.g. Kafka/RabbitMQ) and data stores.
- Improve automation and decisioning with safe ML/AI fallbacks, ensuring observability and clear metrics.
- Lead refactors to modernise services and reduce technical debt while maintaining production reliability.
- Collaborate with product, data, design and compliance to deliver user-centred, regulation-compliant solutions.
- Mentor engineers, drive code reviews and promote engineering best practices across the squad.

Requirements:
- 4+ years professional software engineering experience (backend/microservices focus).
- Strong experience designing APIs, asynchronous systems (Kafka/RabbitMQ) and working with relational and NoSQL stores.
- Demonstrable knowledge of reliability, scalability, security and observability for high-throughput systems.
- Familiarity with KYC/FinCrime concepts, regulatory constraints and secure data handling practices.
- Product mindset: data-driven decision making, breaking complex work into delivery-focused increments.
- Practical experience applying ML/AI safely to automation or decisioning is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and experience mentoring or leading technical initiatives.
