## About the role

Responsibilities:
- Design, build and maintain components of the Etsy Privacy Platform across frontend and backend, working primarily in the PHP/MySQL monolith and related systems.
- Implement backend APIs, automations and workflow tooling that enable user privacy controls and support compliance with global privacy obligations.
- Integrate internal and external systems end-to-end, ensuring reliability, observability and scalability of pipelines and services.
- Collaborate closely with product, legal, data and design teams to translate privacy requirements into safe-by-default product features.
- Write and maintain automated tests, improve system observability, participate in code reviews and support production operations.
- Work with a distributed team and attend the Dublin office 1–2 days per week as required.

Requirements:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent) with strong backend development skills in PHP and MySQL; experience in monolithic architectures preferred.
- Demonstrated experience building reliable, observable and scalable systems, including API design and system integration.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and advocating for privacy-safe solutions.
- Familiarity with privacy concepts, compliance requirements and translating legal/PM requirements into technical designs.
- Comfortable working across the stack and contributing to frontend, backend and workflow tooling; Dublin presence expected for local candidates.

## Responsibilities

Expand the Etsy Privacy Platform and end-user experiences within the PHP/MySQL monolith. Develop backend APIs, automations, and workflow tooling to ensure global privacy obligations are met.

## Requirements

Requires experience in integrating internal/external systems and building reliable, observable systems. Candidates should possess a customer-centric mentality and excellent communication skills for cross-functional advocacy.
