## About the role

Responsibilities:
- Integrate and index biological data and metadata into the EBI Search platform for web and API access.
- Develop new features within an evolving codebase to improve search, cross-linking and discovery.
- Integrate emerging AI technologies to enhance data discovery and user experience.
- Build lightweight, efficient approaches for multi-domain data integration and interoperability.
- Collaborate across EMBL-EBI teams, follow best practices (version control, CI/CD, testing) and produce clear documentation.

Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science or related field and minimum two years of software development experience.
- Good knowledge of Java and experience with JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Familiarity with scripting (Python, Bash) and Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Desirable: experience with Solr/Lucene-based search, Docker/Kubernetes, relational/graph/NoSQL databases, and machine learning methods applied to data discovery.

## Responsibilities

Contribute to the integration and indexing of biological data and metadata for the EBI Search engine. Develop new features, integrate AI technologies to enhance data discovery, and collaborate on reusable software using industry best practices.

## Requirements

Requires a degree in Computer Science or a related field and at least two years of software development experience. Proficiency in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, and scripting languages like Python is essential.
