## About the role

Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, test and maintain software modules for the UniProt import and production pipelines.
- Build scalable workflows and data‑processing components to manage large and growing biological datasets.
- Collaborate with Ensembl and other teams for reference selection, data imports and pipeline integration.
- Support production releases, troubleshoot issues, and maintain documentation and tests for maintainability.
- Contribute to performance tuning, adoption of big‑data tools, and promotion of coding standards and best practices.

Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science or related discipline and at least ~3 years professional software development experience in production environments.
- Proficiency in Java and/or Python, experience with version control (git) and Unix command line.
- Familiarity with Agile processes, testing, documentation and collaborative development.
- Experience or interest in large‑scale data processing technologies (Apache Spark) is desirable.
- Good communication skills and ability to work to deadlines within interdisciplinary teams.

## Responsibilities
