(Senior) Kotlin / Java Software Engineer - Banking Payments (m/f/x) at Scalable GmbH

About the role

Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain business‑critical payment services using Kotlin/Java and Spring Boot across the full payment lifecycle (initiation, validation, execution, status, exceptions, reconciliation).
- Design clear domain models, APIs and event‑driven workflows connecting products, internal systems and banking partners.
- Write secure, well‑tested, maintainable code with emphasis on correctness, resilience and traceability for money flows.
- Operate cloud‑native services on AWS (ECS, Lambda), and improve delivery with IaC, CI/CD, observability and monitoring.
- Drive reliability, automation and developer experience in an agile, cross‑functional team using DDD, code reviews and automated testing.
- Take ownership from idea to production, delivering measurable improvements to quality and performance.

Requirements:
- Strong experience with Kotlin or Java and Spring Boot for backend services.
- Solid understanding of Domain‑Driven Design and translating business processes to software models.
- Experience with distributed, event‑driven systems and API design.
- Familiarity with cloud‑native AWS environments (containers and serverless) and infrastructure as code.
- Good practices in automated testing, CI/CD and observability for production systems.
- Experience or interest in payments/SEPA or banking systems is a strong advantage.
