Responsibilities:
- Maintain and evolve large-scale mainframe applications and one of the company’s largest databases.
- Perform fault analysis, troubleshooting, and incident resolution to ensure stable operation.
- Develop efficient libraries and collaborate on modern microservices that interact with mainframe systems.
- Own parts of the application lifecycle: planning, requirements, implementation, testing and operation.
- Work cross-functionally with infrastructure, payments, DWH and product teams; use AI-assisted tools where appropriate.
Requirements:
- Several years of professional mainframe development experience, ideally in banking.
- Proficiency with Natural/Adabas and strong knowledge of COBOL, DB2, SQL, CICS, ISPF, JCL (z/OS).
- Experience building fault-tolerant, secure software and familiarity with SQL databases (Oracle, Postgres, etc.).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and documentation skills; ability to explain complex contexts clearly.
- Comfortable working in agile teams, sharing knowledge, and taking responsibility for tasks.
- Strong German and English communication skills; willing to handle occasional night/weekend duties.
