Software Solutions Architect at Astroscale

Responsibilities:
- Define operation and maintenance plans for software solutions, including services, processes, organisation and operating models.
- Ensure solution components comply with architecture frameworks, standards, policies and best practices.
- Design for security, privacy, testability and interoperability across space and ground segments.
- Select and evaluate cloud services (AWS, Azure), optimise cost, and produce migration strategies.
- Create and communicate implementation roadmaps aligned to mission and business objectives.
- Provide governance and risk-based decision-making for change control and deviations from specifications.
- Act as the technical bridge between internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to maintain a stable architecture.

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Software Solutions Architect (or senior technical role) in complex integrated environments (space, defence, or advanced manufacturing preferred).
- Strong systems thinking and ability to design and maintain end-to-end architectures across multiple suppliers.
- Knowledge of architecture frameworks, compliance, and governance practices.
- Experience designing for security, privacy, and testability in mission-critical systems.
- Practical experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), cost optimisation, and migration planning.
- Ability to develop clear implementation roadmaps and make risk-based engineering decisions.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, analytical skills and the ability to balance technical, operational and commercial needs.
- Desirable: familiarity with satellite systems, ECSS/ISO standards, distributed or real-time systems, and exposure to DevOps/CI-CD practices.
