Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver a multi-quarter storage platform programme from problem definition to production adoption.
- Design and build production services, controllers and infrastructure (Python/Go, Kubernetes, Terraform).
- Define data ownership, tagging, retention classes and cost attribution for large datasets.
- Implement safe lifecycle management: retention, deletion, re-tiering, dry-runs and audit trails.
- Improve read performance and caching strategies to reduce GPU wait times and cross-region latency.
- Architect secure data movement and replication across regions/clouds with encryption and IAM controls.
- Establish SLOs, dashboards and measurable platform metrics for availability, performance and cost.
- Align cross-functional teams through design documents, RFCs and technical mentorship.
Requirements:
- Proven Staff Engineer experience leading complex infra programmes across multiple teams.
- Ownership of petabyte-scale object storage operations (layout, lifecycle, performance, cost) with demonstrated outcomes.
- Hands-on software engineering skills in Python, Go or similar, and production Kubernetes/Terraform experience.
- Strong security and access-management knowledge (IAM/RBAC, encryption, auditing, secure replication).
- Experience with performance tuning, caching (including NVMe patterns), and cross-region replication strategies.
- Ability to write clear designs, influence stakeholders, and mentor engineers to drive adoption.
