About the role

Responsibilities:
- Leidinggeven aan squads die AI-gedreven systemen bouwen; combineren van delivery ownership met hands-on engineering (~60% van de tijd).

- Implementeren van production-ready inference services, CI/CD en MLOps-praktijken; bewaken van performance en kosten in de cloud.
- Coach en mentor voor engineers; invoeren van engineering standaarden, technische governance en best practices.
- Samenwerken met Product, Architects en creatieve teams om technische keuzes af te stemmen op productdoelen.

Requirements:
- Sterke achtergrond in software engineering en technische leiderschap met bewezen ervaring in het in productie brengen van ML-systemen.
- Hands-on ervaring met PyTorch en moderne ML-workflows; bekend met MLOps-tools zoals MLflow en CI/CD pipelines.
- Cloud-ervaring (AWS/Azure/GCP) en inzicht in schaalbare inference-architecturen.
- Ervaring met Transformers, GNNs, diffusion models of RNNs en real-time/3D pipelines is een sterke pré.
- Ervaring met performance- en cost‑optimalisatie, monitoring en retrainingstrategieën.
- Sterke communicatieve vaardigheden, mentorship-ervaring en bereidheid om op locatie in Alkmaar te werken.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering squads delivering complex AI-driven systems, shaping architecture and delivery strategy, and guiding Proofs of Concepts. Stay hands-on with engineering about 60% of time, building POCs, solving difficult problems, and unblocking delivery. Drive engineering standards, delivery practices, and technical governance across the business.

Strong experience in software engineering, technical delivery, or technical leadership; track record deploying ML systems to production (serving, monitoring, retraining); experience mentoring teams; hands-on with PyTorch; familiarity with MLOps tools (MLflow, CI/CD); cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP); comfortable with transformers/RNNs or diffusion models; willingness to work on-site in Alkmaar.
