Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and develop a small systems and cloud engineering team; set goals, give feedback and manage performance.
- Own technical disaster recovery end-to-end and ensure critical services can recover under regulatory requirements.
- Manage infrastructure across VMware data centres, GCP and Azure; review designs and lead major incidents.
- Drive migration and hosting strategy decisions, balancing cost, resilience and operational simplicity.
- Promote automation and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Ansible) to reduce toil and improve repeatability.
- Collaborate with Platform Engineering, InfoSec and stakeholders to meet FCA compliance and operational resilience targets.
Requirements:
- Proven experience leading infrastructure or cloud engineering teams with hands-on operational responsibility.
- Strong background in enterprise infrastructure (VMware, storage, networking) and public cloud (GCP/Azure).
- Demonstrable experience with disaster recovery, incident and change management in regulated environments.
- Proficiency with automation and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible) and scripting for operational tasks.
- Solid understanding of networking, directory services, security controls and vendor management.
- Clear communicator able to explain technical risk to senior stakeholders and drive pragmatic remediation.
