About the role

Responsibilities:
- Define and own the technical direction and architecture for the Underwriting & Pricing domain (pricing/rating engines, underwriting rules, risk appetite logic).
- Lead cross-team initiatives to modernise the platform so pricing and underwriting changes can be made quickly and safely across the business.
- Translate product and actuarial requirements into robust, testable designs and platform services; ensure backward compatibility and auditability.
- Drive engineering standards: CI/CD, automated testing, observability, security and cloud-native best practices.
- Mentor engineers, make multi-team architectural decisions, participate in incident response and promote operational excellence.

Requirements:
- Extensive staff-level engineering experience (10+ years) with a proven track record defining domain-level architecture and standards.
- Strong hands-on experience with backend languages such as C# or Java and running production systems in public cloud (Azure/GCP/AWS).
- Experience with distributed systems, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and building resilient financial or insurance platforms.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder skills to partner with product, actuarial and dependent teams and drive cross-team change.
- Familiarity with risk modelling, pricing strategies and regulated domains (insurance/financial services) is highly desirable.
