Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable systems for rapid deposition, curation and archival of high-volume biological image data.
- Build backend services, front-end interfaces and supporting infrastructure to automate ingestion and validation workflows.
- Develop interactive online exploration and visualization tools; extend existing viewers or implement new solutions as needed.
- Integrate imaging services with HPC/storage teams and manage deployments on shared compute and storage resources.
- Coordinate with service teams on shared development, provide helpdesk support and improve software development processes.

Requirements:
- University degree in computer science, life sciences or related discipline and several years of software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with JavaScript and Python and building full-stack applications.
- Experience with relational databases (Postgres/MySQL), Linux systems and standard SDLC practices (testing, CI/CD, version control).
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), batch schedulers (SLURM) and NoSQL databases (desirable).
- Good communication skills, willingness to learn new technologies and enthusiasm for open data services.
