Responsibilities:
- Operate and evolve core services that process every international payment on the Wise platform.
- Drive platform architecture to decouple internal payment processing from external partner APIs.
- Define clear contracts and standards for internal/external integrations to reduce complexity.
- Lead large cross-team projects, author Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and set technical direction.
- Mentor engineers, promote best practices (CD, code reviews) and produce clear technical documentation and diagrams.

Requirements:
- Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot and deep knowledge of distributed systems.
- Proven track record of leading cross-team technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to drive complex projects.
- Ability to decompose large problems into incremental milestones that deliver customer value.
- Familiarity with API design, scalability, reliability and platform-level architecture decisions.
