Responsibilities:
- Lead migration of UNICEF’s legacy data warehouse to a modern Databricks lakehouse architecture.
- Design target architecture, data models and ETL/ELT pipelines; create data mapping and transformation plans.
- Implement data governance and security using Unity Catalog; define access controls and metadata management.
- Ensure data quality, observability and performance tuning for analytics and downstream AI-ready use cases.
- Produce technical documentation, run validation and testing, and provide operational runbooks and handover materials.
- Collaborate with programme teams, country offices and vendors; provide capacity building and technical guidance.

Requirements:
- Advanced university degree in a relevant field (or first-level degree plus two additional years) and minimum ~5 years of relevant professional experience in ICT/data engineering.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with Databricks, lakehouse patterns, ETL development and cloud data platforms.
- Knowledge of Unity Catalog or equivalent governance tooling, Oracle databases and data modeling best practices.
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting (Python/Scala), experience with CI/Git workflows and data engineering tooling.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, troubleshooting skills and experience working in cross-functional/agile environments.
