About the role
Responsibilities:
- Design, build and operate reliable, scalable systems; define and monitor SLOs/SLIs and work directly on production infrastructure.
- Collaborate with software engineers to improve system design and reliability.
- Automate infrastructure and operational workflows to remove toil and reduce MTTR.
- Lead and participate in incident response and blameless post-incident reviews; implement follow-ups in code and tooling.
- Monitor performance, optimize cost and capacity, and provide data-driven recommendations for planning.
- Support security best practices through vulnerability triage and remediation, and threat mitigation.
Requirements:
- Hands-on SRE/cloud engineering experience in production environments.
- Strong AWS expertise and production Kubernetes experience.
- Infrastructure-as-code experience (Pulumi preferred; Terraform knowledge acceptable).
- Solid Python skills and engineering practices (testing, debugging, maintainable code).
- Familiarity with observability/monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog), databases (Postgres), and caches/messages (Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
- Experience with performance/capacity planning, incident leadership, stakeholder communication and mentoring.
- Nice-to-have: regulated environments (insurance/finance/health), Cloudflare/security tooling, data-processing experience (PySpark/MLOps).

Continuously analyze and optimize system performance and cost, provide data, insights, and recommendations to inform capacity planning, and support security best practices through hands-on vulnerability remediation and threat mitigation.
Requirements
Hands-on SRE practices with production systems; strong AWS expertise; Kubernetes, networking, DNS; Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi preferred, Terraform a plus); solid Python proficiency; ability to mentor others and engage stakeholders.
