About the role
Responsibilities:
- Design, build and operate backend services for the orchestration engine and automated verification decisioning pipeline.
- Deliver orchestration features: multi-method flow execution, branching/fallback logic and webhook integrations.
- Improve resilience: idempotency, backpressure handling, retries, SPOF elimination and backwards-compatibility testing.
- Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, postmortems and runbook creation.
- Drive engineering quality via code reviews, CI practices, observability and mentoring teammates.
Requirements:
- 5+ years building large-scale backend applications with Python, including event-driven and async architectures.
- Hands-on experience with message queues (SQS or similar) and designing for production reliability.
- Proven ownership of production-critical services and familiarity with on-call duties.
- Deep understanding of distributed-systems resilience patterns (idempotency, backpressure, retries).
- Strong API design, testing strategy knowledge and relational database fundamentals.
- Good communication skills to explain technical decisions to engineers and non-engineers; experience with workflow engines, Kubernetes or identity verification is a plus.
