About the role
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and maintain security and firewall solutions for complex network and IT environments.
- Develop, review and optimise security policies and rulebases; perform changes, patches and updates with continuity and risk awareness.
- Monitor logs and alerts, collaborate with SOCs on incidents, and participate in incident response and remediation.
- Analyse CVEs and vulnerabilities, recommend and implement mitigations, and ensure compliance with standards (NIST, ISO27001).
- Document designs, changes and compliance requirements; advise customers and internal teams on risk and architecture choices.
Requirements:
- HBO/WO level education and 5+ years’ relevant experience in network/security engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Check Point (required); familiarity with FortiGate, Palo Alto and Cisco ASA is expected.
- Experience with VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN), policy design and rulebase optimisation.
- Knowledge of logging/SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk), SOC collaboration and incident processes.
- Understanding of security standards and hardening guidelines; ability to analyse CVEs in complex environments.
- Certifications preferred (e.g., Check Point CCSE/CCME required, Cisco CCNP Security or equivalent a plus); experience with identity platforms (Cisco ISE/802.1X) and public-sector environments is a bonus.
