Senior Software Engineer | Backend at Apron

Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and own backend services and core financial integrations end-to-end.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with frontend engineers, product managers and designers to deliver features.
- Ensure secure, fast transaction routing and protect customer funds through robust system design.
- Optimize performance, reliability and scalability across services (databases, APIs, infrastructure).
- Mentor peers, drive technical improvements and proactively propose architecture and process changes.
- Contribute to CI/CD, infrastructure (Kubernetes, Terraform), and observable production deployments.

Requirements:
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience (startup or fast-paced product environment preferred).
- Strong experience with relational databases and advanced PostgreSQL features (GIST, partitioning, replication).
- Practical working knowledge of cloud platforms (preferably Google Cloud) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Comfortable working with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and production-grade CI/CD practices.
- Familiarity with Kotlin or readiness to adopt it for server-side development; strong language fundamentals.
- High attention to code quality, testing, security and production operational standards.
