About the role
Responsibilities:
- Research, design and implement new concepts and algorithms for data management and query execution in the Process Query Engine.
- Benchmark and stress-test components using performance engineering principles; identify bottlenecks and optimise execution paths.
- Own performance, scalability, and reliability improvements across the engine; drive practical architectural changes.
- Lead projects end-to-end: define technical roadmaps, take responsibility from problem definition to deployment and operation.
- Mentor junior engineers, review designs and code, and promote best practices for system programming and performance.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and customers to validate solutions and drive integrations.
Requirements:
- University degree in Computer Science or comparable education.
- Strong experience in system programming with modern C++; Java experience is a plus.
- Solid knowledge in one or more of: parallel computing, distributed systems, or database internals.
- 5+ years of production software development experience and a track record of shipping reliable systems.
- Familiarity with cloud engineering, Linux, infrastructure-as-code, build systems, and performance monitoring is advantageous.
- Analytical mindset with deep understanding of algorithms and performance trade-offs; excellent English communication skills.

Requirements

Strong experience in system programming with modern C++, with Java as a plus, and solid knowledge of parallel computing, distributed systems, or database internals. 5+ years of experience in software development for production systems; cloud engineering, Linux, infrastructure as code, build systems, and performance monitoring are advantageous; English proficiency is required (German a plus).
