Software Engineer II, Messaging Infrastructure at Klaviyo

Responsibilities:
- Design, build and operate features of a high-throughput messaging pipeline that processes campaign traffic at scale.
- Implement reliable, highly-available components for message processing, delivery and retry logic across channels (email, SMS, push, etc.).
- Collaborate with product, infra and cross-functional teams to define designs, perform load testing and ship production changes safely.
- Diagnose and resolve performance, scaling and reliability issues; improve monitoring and alerting for key flows.
- Mentor peers, contribute to technical reviews and participate in hiring/interviewing to maintain team quality.

Requirements:
- 4+ years software engineering experience with ownership of at least one complex, production system.
- Strong fundamentals in large-scale system design, performance tuning and trade-offs for availability and cost.
- Experience with relevant stack components (Python/Django, message systems like Pulsar, MySQL, Redis, AWS and Terraform preferred).
- Comfortable debugging distributed systems, writing tests and improving deployment/experiment workflows.
- Good communication skills, collaborative mindset and willingness to mentor others.
