Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and maintain embedded and low-level control software for instrumentation and device orchestration.
- Develop hardware interface modules and drivers for protocols such as UART, SPI and Ethernet; integrate vendor APIs/SDKs when required.
- Extend and maintain the internal instrumentation platform (LIP) for data acquisition, control, visualization and automation.
- Perform system integration, validation, debugging and hands-on testing in development and production lab environments.
- Collaborate with physicists, hardware and software teams to deliver reliable instrument control and diagnostics, including instrumentation GUIs and calibration tools.
- Contribute to CI/CD, test automation, documentation and best practices for embedded development; support on-site deployments and commissioning.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years' experience in embedded systems, instrumentation or hardware–software integration.
- Strong proficiency in Python and C/C++; experience with driver development and hardware communication protocols (UART/SPI/Ethernet).
- Experience with data acquisition, hardware-in-the-loop testing, motion controllers or precision positioning is a plus.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD practices and writing clear technical documentation.
- Ability to work on-site in Bergen for integration, testing and deployment activities.
