Software Engineer - Logistics at Picnic

About the role

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and test features for logistics systems (route optimisation, planning, driver tools, inbound/outbound flows).
- Own services end-to-end: implement backend Java (Spring Boot, Reactor) and contribute frontend work when needed.
- Improve platform scalability, performance, reliability and security through design and refactoring.
- Automate deployments and support DevOps practices (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, CI/CD) and monitoring.
- Collaborate with product, operations and warehouse teams to deliver user-focused solutions and iterate on feedback.

Requirements:
- Master’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience and 1–5 years professional software development experience.
- Strong Java backend skills (Java 21/25, Spring Boot) and willingness to work across full stack (React/Angular exposure helpful).
- Experience with messaging systems (RabbitMQ/Kafka), databases (PostgreSQL/MongoDB), containers and cloud tooling (AWS).
- Product mindset, ownership, problem-solving skills and clear English communication.
- Based in or willing to relocate to the Netherlands and able to work regularly from the Amsterdam office.
