Responsibilities:
- Lead independent research projects on microbial functional genomics, metabolic interactions and predictive microbiome modelling.
- Develop and maintain bioinformatics software, analysis pipelines and reproducible workflows for NGS, proteomics and metabolomics data.
- Perform large-scale data handling, statistical analysis, visualization and multi-omics integration.
- Build and maintain data management systems and infrastructure; run and optimise cluster-based pipelines (SGE/Slurm, Snakemake/Luigi).
- Provide programming and statistical support to group members, collaborate on cross-disciplinary projects and contribute to publications.

Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics or related field.
- Substantial experience in scientific computing and software development; >2 years experience in a high-level language (Python, R or MatLab).
- Experience with large-scale omics data (metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics), statistics and visualization.
- Familiarity with compute clusters, workflow managers and version control; experience in multi-omics integration and modelling is desirable.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and collaborate across life-science and informatics teams.
