About the role

Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end search and ranking components: problem framing, model development, deployment and measurement in production.
- Build multilingual query understanding (intent classification, NER, slot filling, semantic parsing) across 35+ languages.
- Design retrieval and ranking pipelines: candidate generation, dense/sparse retrieval, neural re-ranking and latency-aware deployment.
- Balance relevance, personalization and commercial objectives for marketplace scenarios; incorporate business signals into ranking.
- Implement experimentation frameworks and run A/B tests to validate models and measure business impact.
- Collaborate with engineers, product and ops to monitor models, handle bias, and maintain production quality and cost.

Requirements:
- 5+ years building and shipping production search, ranking or recommendation systems (or equivalent experience).
- Strong expertise in retrieval, learning-to-rank, NLP and query understanding; practical knowledge of transformer models and fine-tuning.
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch or Hugging Face, Python, SQL and vector search technologies (or other IR stacks).
- Familiarity with A/B testing, online experimentation and bridging offline metrics to live conversion.
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP/Vertex AI) and production ML deployment best practices; MSc/PhD preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Build and deploy production search capabilities, including multilingual query understanding, candidate retrieval, ranking, and personalization, with ownership from problem framing through business impact. Develop evaluation and experimentation frameworks, apply language models where useful, and balance relevance, marketplace value, quality, latency, and cost.

Requirements

Requires 5+ years of experience building and shipping production search, ranking, or recommendation systems, with deep expertise in at least one relevant area such as learning to rank, retrieval, NLP, or personalization. Candidates should have experience with transformer models, experimentation and A/B testing, strong Python and SQL skills, and hands-on familiarity with PyTorch or Hugging Face; a master's degree or PhD is preferred, or equivalent expertise.
