Responsibilities:
- Own and run the end-to-end architecture review process: intake, tiering, turnaround targets and recorded decisions.
- Keep reviews proportionate: fast-track routine designs using published patterns and fully review cross-cutting, novel or high-cost designs.
- Lead, develop and allocate Enterprise Solutions Architects across initiatives and IT verticals; enable them to own designs independently.
- Chair cross-domain architecture reviews and make final design approval decisions against architecture standards.
- Maintain solution design standards, Architecture Decision Records, the pattern library and the exception register.
- Personally design and lead delivery for the largest, most cross-cutting initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to translate business requirements into costed, scalable solutions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 14+ years of hands-on engineering/architecture experience, including 4+ years in an architecture leadership role.
- Proven experience designing and operating an architecture review/design authority accepted by delivery teams.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, integration architecture and non-functional requirements across multiple domains.
- Strong data architecture skills (SQL and NoSQL): schema design, complex queries, optimization and performance tuning.
- Solid understanding of AWS, containers, Kubernetes and CI/CD; AWS Solutions Architect certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience with vendor evaluations and build-vs-buy decisions; portfolio-level costing skills (build/run).
- Excellent communicator and leader; fluent in English (other languages advantageous).
