Security Infrastructure Software Engineer - Cork, Ireland at Qualcomm

Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain Java-based server applications that manage cryptographic keys and provide device image signing and factory provisioning services.
- Integrate with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) using PKCS#11 and HSM-specific APIs to ensure keys remain protected on-premises.
- Contribute to system architecture, secure design reviews, and define assurance requirements for high-security services.
- Develop, test, and debug backend services (Java/Python/C) and support deployment/integration on standalone servers.
- Implement and maintain REST/XML interfaces (RESTEasy, Spring) and related build/integration pipelines.
- Collaborate with device engineering teams to enable efficient use of secure infrastructure and provide guidance on supported cryptographic operations.
- Participate in incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and cross-region collaboration to resolve production issues.

Requirements:
- Strong Java development experience with enterprise frameworks (Spring, RESTEasy) and Java crypto APIs (JCA/JCE).
- Proficiency in Python and C for tooling, integration, and low-level interfacing tasks.
- Practical experience with HSM integration (PKCS#11) and understanding of on-premises HSM operational concerns.
- Solid knowledge of cryptographic key management, PKI, certificates, symmetric key hierarchies, and secure provisioning workflows.
- Familiarity with network programming, secure protocols, and secure server deployment practices.
- Experience with Java build/toolchains, XML-based interfaces, and debugging complex distributed systems.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and with geographically distributed teams.
- Awareness of post-quantum cryptography developments is a plus.
