Responsibilities:
- Work in a cross-functional squad to design, implement and maintain backend services that power Monzo products.
- Build reliable, testable systems using Go/Java/Scala and platform tools (Cassandra, Kafka, Envoy, Kubernetes, Docker, cloud).
- Collaborate with product, design and data teams to deliver customer-focused features and run experiments.
- Participate in on-call rotations, incident response and post-incident improvement work.
- Share knowledge, contribute to engineering practices and assist with hiring and onboarding.

Requirements:
- 5–10 years backend engineering experience with strong proficiency in strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, or Scala).
- Practical experience with distributed systems, system design, and production operations (Kafka, Cassandra, Kubernetes, Docker, cloud).
- Product-oriented mindset, comfortable operating in ambiguity and iterating quickly.
- Good communication skills and ability to work across UK locations (London or remote).
