About the role

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot (3+).
- Build and maintain REST APIs following an API-first approach with OpenAPI specifications.
- Apply clean architecture principles and established software design patterns to improve maintainability.
- Optimize persistence and data models using Hibernate/JPA and identify performance bottlenecks.
- Detect and address technical debt; propose sustainable refactors and improvements.
- Advocate and implement engineering best practices, code quality, testing, and CI/CD.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers and cross-functional teams; contribute to architectural discussions.

Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional backend development experience with Java.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot (3+) and proven API design skills (OpenAPI/API-first).
- Hands-on Hibernate/JPA and solid data modeling experience.
- Good knowledge of software design patterns, system architecture, and maintainable code practices.
- Passion for code quality, testing, and continuous improvement.
- Proactive problem-solver with the ability to challenge solutions constructively.
- Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency required or highly desirable for this role.
