Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot to support SEO-optimised pages at scale.
- Consolidate, modernise and migrate legacy services to newer, more reliable environments.
- Translate product requirements into technical solutions and deliver incremental milestones that improve acquisition and page quality.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers; perform code reviews and promote best engineering practices.
- Contribute to observability, monitoring and reliability improvements for production services.
- Produce clear documentation and diagrams to support cross-team collaboration and onboarding.

Requirements:
- Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot and building backend services in production.
- Proficiency with relational databases, SQL optimisation and schema design.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, break down complex problems and deliver results.
- Strong communication skills and a sense of ownership; able to work across teams and with product managers.
- Adherence to best practices: testing, code review, continuous delivery and maintainable code.
- Curiosity and drive for continuous learning.
- Desirable: experience with Node.js/TypeScript/React, i18n tools, observability stacks (Grafana/ELK/Prometheus) and AI-assisted coding tools.
