About the role
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain the workflow orchestrator that runs quant compute, including APIs, scheduling and real-time progress reporting.
- Design scalable, resilient orchestration and compute services that hide infrastructure complexity from researchers.
- Implement strongly-typed domain models and use property-/model-based testing to guarantee correctness.
- Contribute across the stack: F# core services, Python/.NET SDKs, TypeScript/React UI, Postgres, and Kubernetes operations.
- Improve observability and health reporting; measure before optimising and design systems that surface failures clearly.
- Work closely with users, agree goals, own deliveries, and participate in a lightweight support rota.
Requirements:
- 2–5 years of production software engineering experience with systems at scale and a focus on reliability and performance.
- Experience or strong interest in functional programming (F#, OCaml, Haskell, Scala, Rust) and designing APIs that are hard to misuse.
- Familiarity with API design, observability, Kubernetes, Postgres and testing strategies (property/model-based testing).
- Ability to explain trade-offs to researchers and engineers, and to work collaboratively in a colocated team using AI-assisted tooling.
- Willingness to participate in occasional out-of-hours support; eagerness to learn firm-specific stacks and methods.
Responsibilities
You will build and maintain the workflow orchestrator that powers the firm's compute infrastructure. This involves designing scalable systems, developing APIs, and ensuring the reliability of research platforms used by quantitative researchers.
Requirements
The ideal candidate has experience building production systems at scale and a strong interest in functional programming. You should be capable of designing robust APIs and explaining complex technical trade-offs to diverse stakeholders.
