Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary squads to design, implement and operate resilient backend services for Monzo collectives (Core Banking, Payments, Platform, etc.).
- Build production-grade systems using Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Envoy, Kubernetes, Docker and AWS.
- Drive system design, scalability, observability and reliability across services; own CI/CD and incident response for your services.
- Test hypotheses with product, data and design teams to improve customer outcomes; contribute to open source and internal best practices.
- Mentor peers, share knowledge across collectives and participate in cross-team architecture discussions.

Requirements:
- 10+ years of backend engineering experience with strong expertise in strongly-typed languages (Go/Java/Scala/C).
- Hands-on experience with Cassandra, Kafka, Envoy, Kubernetes, Docker and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
- Strong system design, distributed systems knowledge, and production operations experience.
- Product mindset, comfortable with ambiguity, and ability to collaborate across functions.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to work across UK locations (London or remote).
