Responsibilities:
- Design and implement backend services for billing, energy‑market communications, and accounting.
- Build scalable, reliable systems that support dynamic electricity plans and accurate billing flows.
- Implement and maintain data access layers and business logic using PostgreSQL and ORM patterns.
- Integrate payment and billing workflows (Stripe) into backend services.
- Write, review, and deploy production TypeScript/Node.js code; own features from design to release.
- Improve system reliability, observability, and maintainability; participate in system and API design.
- Collaborate with product and operations teams; communicate technical trade-offs clearly in written and verbal form.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building reliable backend infrastructure in production.
- Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills, including asynchronous programming and error handling.
- Practical experience with PostgreSQL, schema design, queries, and ORM-based data access.
- Experience building backend services with Next.js patterns (API routes/server components) or equivalent server frameworks.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts, scalability, and maintainable service design.
- Experience integrating Stripe or similar payment/billing platforms.
- Strong computer science fundamentals (degree or equivalent practical experience) and a track record of shipped backend work.
- Fluent German (C1+) with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work on-site in Berlin and take ownership of core infrastructure and production services.
