Responsibilities:
- Build, hire and develop a high-performing engineering organisation; drive hiring roadmap and mentorship.
- Own engineering delivery end-to-end with an emphasis on velocity, quality and scalable systems.
- Set technical direction and architecture decisions in partnership with founders and senior leadership.
- Collaborate closely with Product to prioritise the roadmap and align engineering execution with business goals.
- Contribute code (~30% time) to stay hands-on and influence implementation details.
Requirements:
- 8+ years in software engineering with 2+ years leading engineering teams; proven track record hiring and growing engineers.
- Deep experience designing, shipping and scaling production distributed systems and data-focused platforms.
- Comfortable operating autonomously in small, high-velocity startups and making trade-offs for speed and robustness.
- Strong analytical thinking, pragmatic decision-making and high conviction to execute at pace.
- Experience working alongside data engineering / ML teams or in data-focused businesses preferred.
- Excellent communication, team development and stakeholder management skills.
