About the role
Responsibilities:
- Identify and implement reliability, performance and compliance improvements across critical backend microservices.
- Design and deliver reusable, automated solutions for capacity, autoscaling, resiliency and redundancy.
- Deep-dive into teams' services to diagnose failures, improve observability and implement corrective changes.
- Profile systems (CPU, memory, I/O) and drive performance optimisations across services and libraries.
- Collaborate with product and platform teams to prioritise reliability work and embed best practices.
Requirements:
- Strong software engineering background with product-focused experience.
- Hands-on experience with microservices running in Kubernetes and cloud environments.
- Proficiency in a backend language (Java or equivalent) and production debugging/troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with observability, monitoring and capacity planning; able to measure impact and drive improvements.
- Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams. Openness to learn missing skills on the job.
