Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain next‑gen retrieval and indexing infrastructure that serves high-throughput, low-latency search.
- Partner with ML teams to productionalize retrieval and ranking models (lexical, ANN, neural retrieval) and enable rapid experimentation.
- Ensure index health, reliable data pipelines, and adherence to SLAs for latency and throughput.
- Implement caching, sharding, and performance optimizations; diagnose and resolve production incidents.
- Support A/B experiments and metrics collection to measure relevance and impact of retrieval changes.
- Collaborate across product, data, and platform teams; mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
Requirements:
- Strong engineering and coding skills in Python, Scala, or Java with production experience in backend systems.
- Experience with retrieval systems, indexing, ANN/semantic search, or related ML-enabled search infra.
- Proven track record optimizing latency, throughput, and reliability at scale; knowledge of caching and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with ML deployment, data pipelines, monitoring, and running A/B experiments in production.
- Comfort working cross-functionally with applied scientists and platform teams to bring models to service.
