Software Engineer at Augustus

Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end projects on core banking systems: design, implement, test and operate services that handle clearing, settlement and account state.
- Translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into clean, reliable, and well-tested code with strong system design and data modeling.
- Make technical trade-offs and lead architecture decisions for scalability, resilience and correctness across bare-metal and blockchain integrations.
- Collaborate closely with product, security and other engineers to prioritize features, handle edge cases and ensure production readiness.
- Mentor junior engineers, review code, and contribute to a high-quality engineering culture focused on precision and reliability.

Requirements:
- 5+ years backend software engineering experience with strong system design and production application ownership.
- Experience at early-stage startups or small teams where you led projects and made impactful architectural decisions.
- Familiarity with financial systems, payments/clearing domains, or blockchain infrastructure is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in API design, data modeling, testing, and performance tuning for high-throughput services.
- Excellent communication, autonomy and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment; willingness to be based in or relocate to Berlin.
