Responsibilities:
- Integrate and index biological data and metadata into the EBI Search platform for web and API access.
- Develop new features within an evolving codebase to improve search, cross-linking and discovery.
- Integrate emerging AI technologies to enhance data discovery and user experience.
- Build lightweight, efficient approaches for multi-domain data integration and interoperability.
- Collaborate across EMBL-EBI teams, follow best practices (version control, CI/CD, testing) and produce clear documentation.

Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science or related field and minimum two years of software development experience.
- Good knowledge of Java and experience with JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Familiarity with scripting (Python, Bash) and Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Desirable: experience with Solr/Lucene-based search, Docker/Kubernetes, relational/graph/NoSQL databases, and machine learning methods applied to data discovery.
