Responsibilities:
- Lead the Payments Money Movement squad: set priorities, translate business goals into actionable workstreams and run planning/roadmap ceremonies.
- Own execution, delivery and operational standards for funds flow, ledgers, disbursements and integrations.
- Provide people management: mentor engineers, run 1:1s, drive performance reviews and foster an inclusive, high-trust team culture.
- Partner with Product, Analytics and Partnerships to define requirements, metrics and trade-offs; align technical work to business impact.
- Guide technical direction with senior engineers on architecture, scalability, idempotency, fault tolerance and data consistency.
- Maintain high reliability and risk controls: ensure monitoring, alerting, incident response and post-incident reviews.

Requirements:
- Significant engineering management experience (typically 5+ years) leading backend or payments-focused teams.
- Deep experience designing, operating and scaling distributed financial or payments systems (payments, payouts, settlements, reconciliations).
- Strong technical judgment in architecture, reliability, operational risk and external integrations.
- Experience using data and analytics to measure performance, influence priorities and inform trade-offs.
- Excellent stakeholder communication, cross-functional collaboration and people development skills.
- Ability to work from Etsy’s Dublin office once or twice per week (commutable or local candidates preferred).
- Bias for iterative delivery, strong operational discipline and a focus on building resilient engineering teams.
