About the role
Responsibilities:
- Drive automation and centralisation across partner pricing and billing systems; own end-to-end feature delivery from design to production.
- Design and implement reconciliation services to ensure pricing and billing accuracy for partners.
- Build automated controls and compliance checks around billing to protect financial integrity.
- Work with event-driven platforms (Kafka) and storage layers (MongoDB, MariaDB) to deliver auditable, performant systems.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, run code reviews, and mentor engineers to improve reliability, observability and security.
- Improve resilience and scalability through fault-tolerant design, testing and operational practices.
- Use AI-assisted tools to support development, testing and code quality where appropriate.
Requirements:
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and proven experience delivering impactful backend services (Java or similar OOP language).
- Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka) and relational/NoSQL databases (MariaDB, MongoDB).
- Demonstrable ability to design systems for scalability, resilience and long-term iteration.
- Familiarity with billing, reconciliation or financial operations is highly desirable.
- Ownership mindset for availability, security and incident response; pragmatic approach to technical debt.
- Commitment to observability, testing, security and responsible data/event usage.
- Good communication skills and ability to explain trade-offs to product and partner stakeholders.
