About the role

Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and operate enterprise database platforms (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle) with emphasis on security, resilience and scalability.
- Drive modernisation and standardisation: provide reference architectures, templates and containerised patterns (OpenShift/Kubernetes).
- Lead lifecycle management, capacity planning, observability and incident/problem handling for database platforms.
- Implement automation-first practices using IaC, scripting and CI/CD for provisioning, configuration and patching.
- Evaluate and adopt hybrid cloud strategies; develop roadmaps and technical assessments for major modernisation programmes.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security and application teams to ensure compliance with governance, hardening and data protection requirements.
- Mentor peers and contribute to operational runbooks, baselines and platform documentation.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Deep hands-on expertise administering Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and/or Oracle in enterprise environments.
- Practical experience with container platforms (OpenShift/Kubernetes), cloud platforms and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong scripting/automation skills and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
- Solid understanding of observability, backup/restore, security hardening and compliance for database systems.
- Good communication skills, ability to lead cross-functional projects and drive platform adoption across teams.
