Responsibilities:
- Design and implement core backend systems and financial integrations for products like Capture, Bill Pay, Apron Card and GetPaid.
- Work cross-functionally with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver production-quality features.
- Ensure transaction security, correctness, and performance at scale; design for reliability and low latency.
- Drive system design, architecture, and performance optimization across services and databases.
- Share expertise, mentor peers, and proactively suggest improvements to codebase and operational practices.
- Contribute to CI/CD, observability, incident response, and infrastructure as code (Kubernetes, Terraform) where applicable.
Requirements:
- 6–15 years of backend engineering experience (or equivalent) with a track record in product-led, fast-paced environments.
- Strong experience with relational databases (Postgres) and designing data models for high-throughput systems.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (preferably Google Cloud Platform) and distributed system design.
- Proficiency or strong readiness to work in Kotlin; emphasis on code quality, maintainability and performance.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, and building secure financial integrations is highly desirable.
- Attention to detail, ownership mindset, and experience shipping and operating production services.
