Responsibilities:
- Design, build and evolve the core automation, simulation and scheduling engine (constraint propagation, complex state search).
- Implement and refine scheduling/planning algorithms and model new constraints with the team.
- Extend simulation components in Python and design their APIs for web services.
- Port performance-critical Python code to Rust and provide Python bindings where needed.
- Benchmark, profile and optimize critical backend services for throughput and latency.
- Maintain and extend test suites, CI integration, and simulation validation tooling.
- Collaborate with full-stack colleagues to integrate backend systems into the application.

Requirements:
- Senior-level proficiency in Python (production experience across large codebases).
- 3+ years practical experience in Rust and experience creating bindings to Python.
- Background building performance-critical backend services and long-lived systems.
- Strong algorithms, optimization and heuristic/search problem-solving skills (scheduling/planning experience preferred).
- Experience with API design, benchmarking and profiling tools, and test automation.
- Able to work independently, produce high-quality first drafts, and collaborate across disciplines.
