Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain and improve the Database Platform infrastructure on AWS to ensure reliability, security and scalability.
- Implement infrastructure as code (Terraform/CloudFormation) and CI/CD practices to automate deployments and reduce toil.
- Operate containerized workloads with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS), including deployment patterns and lifecycle management.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines and orchestration using Apache Airflow and dbt; collaborate with Product & Analytics on access and metadata flows.
- Maintain and enhance observability (metrics, logs, traces) to meet SLOs; participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
- Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing and the team roadmap through high-quality code and infrastructure improvements.
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and services in production environments.
- Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) administration and deployment patterns.
- Proficient with IaC (Terraform or CloudFormation) and CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins or similar).
- Competent in at least one programming language for automation (Python preferred).
- Experience with dbt for data transformations and Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
- Familiarity with cloud networking, security best practices, and observability tools (DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
- Nice to have: knowledge of database internals (tuning, HA, replication/sharding), backend engineering experience, or familiarity with metadata platforms (OpenMetadata).
