Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end search and ranking components: problem framing, model development, production deployment and monitoring.
- Build query understanding capabilities (intent classification, NER, slot filling) across many languages to extract structured meaning from free text.
- Design retrieval pipelines: candidate generation, vector/semantic search, neural reranking with attention to recall, precision and latency trade-offs.
- Implement personalization and marketplace-aware ranking that balances user relevance with commercial objectives.
- Run experiments and A/B tests, instrument metrics, analyse results and iterate to improve conversion and business KPIs.
Requirements:
- 5+ years shipping search or recommendation systems to production, with practical ML and experimentation experience.
- Strong background in NLP, learning-to-rank or related deep-learning techniques (transformers, neural rerankers).
- Proficiency in Python, PyTorch/HuggingFace, SQL and experience with vector search technologies.
- Familiarity with production ML tooling (Airflow, GCP/Vertex AI or similar), A/B testing and metrics-driven development.
- Strong analytical, communication and cross-team collaboration skills to drive product impact.
